Meet founder of Nailing Broadway, Maddie Jantzi!
Nailing Broadway is so cool (I love a good pun)! Where did this idea start?
Thank you so much! I first started painting broadway shows on my nails when I went to BroadwayCon for the first time in 2019. I really wanted to wear some theatre merch but I realized I didn’t have any! I’ve been doing nail art since I was a kid, and so I decided I would paint broadway nails to show off some of my favourite shows. After this, I started my Instagram account just for fun, and realized people were interested in my work. When the pandemic started, I thought it would be a great time to turn it into a business and sell nail decals so that other theatre fans can always have a piece of broadway with them!

What is your dream Job in the theater industry? There are so many jobs I would love to do! I love performing, but I know that it’s not the best fit for me. Right now I’m kind of in a place where I just want to try it all, but I would say that I’d love to get into PR, producing, and planning broadway concerts and events.

Where did your love for Broadway derive from?I started seeing live theatre at a very young age. The first show I saw was Beauty and the Beast when I was 3, and I can still remember being in the audience absolutely loving it. I think as I started seeing more shows and grew a little bit older I started using it as a way to understand and communicate with people. I was a very shy child, and it was clear to me very early on that theatre could be a great way for me to connect with others. The theatre community really is amazing, and I’m so happy that I’ve been able to meet and build relationships with so many more people since starting Nailing Broadway.
Fun Facts:
What’s your favorite nail design you've created (I'm obsessed with the hamilton one with the women's silhouettes)?
Recently I’ve been painting more detailed scenes from both broadway shows and movie musicals. I had a really fun time painting the Mary Poppins nails!
Who's your inspiration?
I honestly can’t narrow it down to one person. During the pandemic and beginning of my business, I’ve been really inspired by all of the theatre professionals who have taken this opportunity to create something new and keep the love of theatre alive. People’s passion for their craft and ability to just make it work somehow, has been very inspiring and has been a big reason I’ve been able to start this new journey.
What Broadway show are you most looking forward to seeing once Broadway re-opens?
It’s a tie between Company and The Music Man. I am so excited to see what they’ve done with these revivals! I know they’ll be worth the wait.
