A Tough Act to Follow

What inspired you to start the podcast?

We actually became friends bonding over a podcast that we both listen to called ‘Gals on the Go.’ We were really inspired by the gals and always talked about starting our own podcast. We finally had the time when we were sent home from school because of COVID. We felt like we could find a niche of college theater students; there’s lots of college podcasts, and lots of theater podcasts, but we felt we could really meld the two audiences.

What are your hopes for the future of our industry in terms of podcast?

We just hope that podcasts become more popular among people in the theater industry! There is so much knowledge to be gained from listening to podcasts and we want to see our fellow theater people access it

How do you think people are going to adapt and make listening to podcasts the new norm?

The library of podcasts is constantly expanding, and as more people start new podcasts, more people are bound to listen. Since starting ‘A Tough Act to Follow,’ we’ve even been exposed to so many new podcasts. There truly is a podcast for everyone; we think it will become the norm when everyone has found their podcast.

Fun Facts about Grace and Fran!

Both of us LOVE ‘Gals on the Go’ co-hosted by youtubers Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio. Some of our other favorites are Marc Timinelli’s “Little Me” podcast, and “Girls Gotta Eat.”

What show are you dying to see when Broadway opens back up?

We love to see shows together, and we can’t wait to see Company and the Music Man when Broadway opens back up.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to start a podcast?

Start TOMORROW. Start as soon as possible. Once we just got going with the podcast, we felt really comfortable and super excited about the audience we were reaching. It's really important to know what your specific audience is so you can give them what they want to hear. And be creative! You’d be surprised by the content some people love and the feedback you’ll receive!
