This week I had the oppotunity to chat with Aliya about her podcast! I also was featured on the most recent episode, “Theatre Jobs Onstage and Offstage”

Q: What inspired you to start a podcast?

A: “I’ve always loved listening to podcasts and hearing people share their stories! I’ve also always wanted to have something that was solely my own and after doing some research, I realized that there were really no podcasts hosted by someone who is currently trying to achieve their dreams of being on Broadway. It’s typical to see the end result, but not the journey. So I wanted to create something for those who are in the middle of their journeys too!”

Q: Where do you get the ideas for each episode?

A: “They really come from my own experiences because if I’m being honest, there is A LOT of things that the theatre community does not prepare you for! I create episodes based on information that I wish someone gave me back when I was starting out as a professional actress!”

Q: Is there anything you want our community to know about you and your work?

A: “I guess that I am no expert on this whatsoever; I’ve just been involved in this community for what feels like my whole life. All that I want from this is for artists to realize that even though we may all seem perfectly put together, none of us truly know what we are doing! We just do what we we’ve been trained to do and we do it to the best of our ability. Which is all that you can do! I really wanted to create a safe space with the podcast and create a dialogue with other artists to hopefully reach someone who needs it the most.”
