To The People Behind The Table

To the People Behind the Table,

I have 60 seconds to prove to you how I can be the solution to your casting troubles.

In those 60 seconds, there is so much I want you to know.

First, I want you to know I got home late last night from work, so if I appear low energy it’s not that I don’t want to be here, I do!

A table sat at my restaurant 10 minutes before closing and then the trains were delayed

But my audition is ready! I prepped and I did the work.

But if I don’t hit the high C spot on, it’s not because I can’t sing it, because I can! I did it 4 times in my apartment yesterday ... (ask my neighbors).

I got to Pearl at 5:30 this morning, and it was really cold out. I’d love to sing it again for you now that I’m warm (again).

If I seem shaky it’s not because I’m nervous.

It’s because of the pressure I’ve put on myself to get this job. I haven’t been seen at any of the auditions I’ve lined up for this week, and it’s been a year since I’ve been in a show.

But I can be the solution to your casting problem.

I am confident in what I do, I just need you to see me for what I am in the 60 seconds I’ve got in front of you.

Those 60 seconds which will set the tone for the rest of my day.

Please know all of these things.

Please know I respect your job and understand that is never anything personal.

But please also know, the survival jobs that keep me up late, and the long lines outside of Pearl that make my nose run aren’t going to stop me.

I will see you soon, and again and again.

Xo,

Morg
